    There is a popular local cafe bar at La Mouline (1 km). A boulangerie with wood fired oven and a general store 2 km. Another general store/newsagent/tabac 3 km. La Mouline has an open air public swimming pool. There is a hotel restaurant at St. Pierre de Riviere and a sub post office. (5 minutes)

    Foix the medieval city with its spectacular castle and old medieval town is 10 minutes by car and has four large supermarkets, many speciality shops, good parking, many pavement cafes and restaurants. Market day is all day Friday.

    Sports and activities

    The house is situated in the foothills of the beautiful and completely unspoilt natural wilderness of the Parc Natural Regional des Pyrenees Ariegeoises in the highly sought after Vallee de Barguillere. Locally the area is covered with natural broadleaf forest. Rivers and streams are everywhere. Access to this natural treasure is free and unhindered and the countryside is open to all for walking, mountain biking, alpine climbing, hill walking, horse riding canoeing and canyoning. In addition in the area you can learn to para-glide. Within 20 minutes of Foix there are two go-kart tracks - one an international race venue.

    Skiing and winter sports

    It takes exactly one hour from the house, (door to door), to be at Mont D'Olmes skiing resort, this location is popular with families and has less demanding skiing than Ax Les Thermes,(one hour) Ax has easy cable car access to the hundreds of kilometres of piste and off piste skiing and the usual attendant shops, cafes, restaurants, night life casino etc. Le Plateau de Beille is 35 minutes away and is primarily a resort for cross country skiing (Nordic). Now very popular you can learn to handle a sledge and huskies. Walking with snow shoes or raquettes is also very popular. Andorra with it's duty free status, its designer shopping and many top class skiing resorts, caters for all levels of experience.

    Golf

    18 hole golf course is situated at La Bastide de Serou which can be reached in 20 minutes. Within 1+ hour distance there are many others.

    Investment Potential

    This area is always in high demand from people wanting to rent holiday accommodation during the summer and the winter, the area is outstanding in it's leisure facilities, it has always been a preferred holiday venue for the French and Northern Europeans for the summer climate and winter skiing.

    Maintainance for absentee owners

    For anyone wanting to let the house on a regular and year round basis, the following will be of great interest.

    The owner of the property can provide a house and garden/pool maintenance local (English) contracter who will guarantee the house and garden is always in good condition, this involves two visits per week in the summer and one per week in the winter, the annual cost of this service is ¤ 1700.

    Letting service for absentee owners

    If you are letting the house the owner of the property can introduce you to someone who will clean the house twice a week, will change and launder linen after each guest has left, can arrange key hand-overs etc.

    Adding to the house

    The owner of the property designed the house in such a way that should they, or some-one else want another two bedrooms on the first floor it would be easy and inexpensive to do because all the support structure is already built in.
